Rekawa Wellness Resort

accommodation

Rooms & Accommodation

Rekawa has fourteen rooms, and that is deliberate. Small enough that the resort never feels like a hotel; large enough that you can come alone, as a couple, or with a group of friends and all be looked after properly.

Every room is ensuite. Every room opens onto its own outdoor space. All of them sit inside the coastal forest between Rekawa Road and the sea, near Tangalle on Sri Lanka’s southern coast — close enough to hear the surf, far enough back that the loudest thing at night is usually the frogs.

Experience complete privacy and independence in our beautifully appointed ensuite rooms, each featuring private bathrooms and secluded outdoor spaces. These intimate retreats offer the perfect balance of luxury and simplicity, with handcrafted furnishings made from sustainable local materials and private terraces that open directly to nature. Ensuite accommodations are ideal for couples seeking romantic getaways, individuals desiring solitude for deep personal work, or anyone who values having their own private sanctuary to retreat to between wellness activities.

Rekawa Wellness Resort ensuite rooms

The rooms were designed around two things that usually pull against each other: privacy and community. You have a door you can close, a bathroom nobody else uses, and a terrace where you can sit for an entire afternoon without seeing another guest. You also have communal spaces, shared meals and a yoga shala a short walk away when you want company.

Natural materials throughout — timber, lime plaster, handwoven textiles — with organic cotton linens on every bed and cross-ventilation designed in before the air conditioning was ever considered.

Our fourteen rooms

King rooms — ten available

Our king rooms take one or two guests, which makes them the right choice whether you’re travelling alone or as a couple. Each has a single king-size bed with a headboard handwoven by weavers here in the Southern Province, dressed in organic cotton and naturally filled pillows.

If you’re coming on your own, this is the room we’d put you in. There’s genuine space to spread out — the terrace has a cushioned daybed and a private dining table, and the room comfortably holds a yoga mat if you’d rather practise alone before breakfast.

Suits: solo guests, couples, anyone on a longer stay.

Rekawa Wellness Resort ensuite rooms

Twin rooms — four available

Our four twin rooms have two separate single beds and are designed for two guests sharing. They’re what most friends travelling together choose, and what we allocate to group retreats where guests are paired.

Same ensuite bathroom, same terrace, same linens — the layout is simply built around two people who’d each like their own bed.

Suits: friends travelling together, group and hosted retreats, family members sharing.

Rekawa Wellness Resort ensuite rooms

Your own bathroom

A private ensuite with a rain shower running naturally filtered water. We stock it with coconut oil soaps, herbal shampoos and body oils made locally — no miniature plastic bottles, and nothing you’d hesitate to put on your skin after a week of Ayurvedic treatment.

Handcrafted furniture

Every piece in the room was made by artisans in Sri Lanka from sustainably sourced local timber. Nothing was flat-packed and nothing was shipped in. It means each room is slightly different from the next — the grain, the weave, the proportions.

A terrace of your own

Each room opens onto a secluded terrace or balcony facing the forest, furnished with a cushioned daybed, meditation cushions and a dining table. Breakfast can be brought to you there if you’d rather not talk to anyone before nine.

Air that moves

The rooms were laid out to catch the sea breeze, with high ceilings and openings on opposing walls, so most guests find they barely use the air conditioning. Ceiling fans are made from sustainable materials. Energy-efficient air conditioning is there in every room for the hotter months, and nobody will judge you for using it in April.

Rekawa Wellness Resort

Rekawa Wellness Resort is on Rekawa Road near Tangalle, in Sri Lanka’s Southern Province — a stretch of coast known for its turtle beaches, its lagoon and the fact that it stayed quiet while the west coast filled up.

From your room it’s a short walk to the restaurant, the treatment rooms and the yoga shala. Rekawa Beach and the turtle conservation project are close by, and Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport is roughly an hour away.

Choosing your room

If you’re coming alone, a king room. If you’re a couple, a king room. If you’re two friends who’d each like your own bed, a twin. If you’re bringing a group and need all fourteen rooms, that works too — the resort books exclusively for hosted retreats.

Rooms are allocated when we confirm your stay, and we’ll always ask before pairing anyone.
