Rekawa Wellness Resort

Wellness Retreats in Sri Lanka

Two paths into the same stillness

Retreats at Rekawa take two forms, and they ask different things of you.

One is built around your body. Our Ayurvedic doctor assesses your constitution on arrival and prescribes from there — treatments, diet, the shape of your days — alongside yoga at sunrise and sunset, breathwork and meditation. You choose the length, from a single day to a fortnight, and you arrive when your flights allow.

The other is built around a single practice. The Satipaṭṭhāna retreat follows the four foundations of mindfulness set out in the Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta, held with the discipline that tradition asks for. The schedule is fixed. The practice does not change from one day to the next. That constraint is the point.

Both take place inside the Rekawa Nature Reserve, in the same open-air shala, with the same kitchen and the same coastline. What differs is whether the retreat adapts to you, or you adapt to it.

Bespoke Retreats

Yoga, Ayurveda, breathwork and meditation, arranged around you. Choose a length from one day to fourteen, begin on any day of the week, and let our resident Ayurvedic doctor build the programme from your consultation onward. No fixed group, no fixed itinerary.

The Vipassana Retreat: Satipaṭṭhāna at Rekawa

Satipaṭṭhāna Retreat

A traditional meditation retreat grounded in the four foundations of mindfulness — body, feeling, mind and mental phenomena. Teacher-led, structured and deliberately narrow, for practitioners who want depth in one practice rather than breadth across several.

What both retreats share

  • Accommodation inside the Rekawa Nature Reserve, minutes from a turtle-nesting beach
  • Ayurvedic meals from local farms and our own gardens, with vegetarian and vegan options
  • Our open-air yoga shala and dedicated ceremonial space
  • Teaching from resident practitioners and visiting Buddhist monks from the local temple
  • The infinity pool, the gardens, and the quiet

Which one is right for you

Choose a bespoke retreat if you want your stay shaped around what your body needs, you have a fixed window of time to work with, you are new to retreat life, or you want the full range — treatment, movement, breath and stillness — rather than one discipline in depth.

Choose the Satipaṭṭhāna retreat if you already have a sitting practice and want to deepen it, you are drawn to the Theravāda tradition specifically, or you want the structure and discipline of a formal retreat rather than a programme that flexes around you.

Not sure? Tell us what you’re hoping for and how long you have. We would rather steer you to the right one than sell you the longer one.
